EXAMPLE OF LETTER

1.        InquiryLetter
A letter of inquiry asks someone for specific information. In some cases, such as a request for promotional material, the recipient will have a clear interest in responding to your letter. In other cases, such as a request for specific information on a product, the recipient may or may not be as motivated to respond quickly. Consequently, always make the tone of the letter friendly and make it easy for the recipient to identify and provide the information you need.

Format of a Letter of Inquiry
Follow this format in writing a letter of inquiry:
-          In the first paragraph, identify yourself and, if appropriate, your position, and your institution or firm.
-          In the second paragraph, briefly explain why you are writing and how you will use the requested information. Offer to keep the response confidential if such an offer seems reasonable.
-         List the specific information you need. You can phrase your requests as questions or as a list of specific items of information. In either case, make each item clear and discrete.
-            Conclude your letter by offering your reader some incentive for responding.

The following letter of inquiry is written by a computer programmer requesting specific information about an upcoming release of a software product.

Whether you're dissatisfied with a company's product or service, it is usually possible to resolve the issue in a mutually beneficial way, through a firm but polite letter of complaint. Writing a complaint letter should not be complicated or scary - all you need to do is clearly state the facts and politely request a resolution. Here's how.

How to Create a Good Schedule for Middle School

Keep in mind that middle school's already a LOT of work. You have six teachers, and homework from each one of them. It's going to be complicated to get homework done and extra curriculum activities. So just remember, school comes first.

Sign up for clubs and activities you enjoy, and not just the one's your crush, friends, or popular kids sign up for. But don't sign up for too much. Maybe one club, and sport you like.

Sign up for clubs with days you know you can be there and always check with your parents before signing up for something. If Tuesday's and Thursday's don't work for you, don't sign up for clubs using one or two of those days

Make sure that your activity doesn't run too long. More than an hour and a half isn't good. You need time for dinner, homework, and time for yourself, too.

How to Ride a Bicycle

Find a safe place to practice. Concrete is the easiest surface to bike on but is unforgiving if you fall. (With correct braking technique and a properly adjusted seat, however, this should not be an issue. See steps below for more details.) Short grass or even tidy gravel would be acceptable alternatives for anyone who feels panicky about falling, but be forewarned that these surfaces make balancing harder and offer more resistance to bike tires. Wherever you end up going, make sure it has both flat areas and gentle slopes (to help you build momentum) but no tight spaces, steep slopes, or traffic.

Make sure you know how to ride a bike safely. If it is your first time riding, consider lowering the seat so that you can put most of your feet on the ground while seated. You should also check the tire pressure, brakes, and such. If you’re wearing long jeans or other long pants, be sure to roll up the right pant leg so it doesn’t get caught in the mechanisms on the right side of the bike. Avoid long skirts or baggy clothing (which could become caught in the gears or tires) and flimsy or open-toed shoes (which might prevent you from stopping yourself effectively should you opt not to use the brakes).

Make sure you know how to brake. While practicing, it’s a good idea to allow yourself a long distance over which to brake gently so that you feel prepared to dismount if necessary.

Practice balancing on the bike. Push yourself along a flat surface with your feet and get the feel of how the bike leans and steers. Do this until you have a good feel and some confidence about steering the bike. Try pushing yourself along fast and "gliding" with your feet up in the air, steering only with your hands. Notice the tendency of your body to lean slightly into the curve to keep balance when just using your hands to steer. When you are up to it, instead of using your hands, try to make turns with your body and let the bike follow you; you'll notice that the front wheel will also make the turn automatically. This is the key bike-riding skill: balancing and steering. Take as much time with this step as you need to feel confident

How to Drive a Car Safely

How to Drive a Car Safely

Never consume alcoholic beverages before driving. This is the most frequent cause of serious accidents. If you drink, use a non-drinking designated driver, a taxi, or sleep over.

Check your car over mechanically, including headlights, brake, and taillights, the brakes, and suspension regularly, or have this done by a capable mechanic. Failures of any of these components can create a dangerous situation.

Mentally prepare for driving. If you are distracted, upset, or unusually tired and sleepy, do not drive. This also applies to driving when you are using medications which may cause drowsiness. If you are taking a cold medication or antihistamine, read the warnings on the label

Observation and anticipation are key skills to master. If you remain very observant ,of everything, and learn to predict others actions you will be well on your way to being a safe driver and avoiding being the victim of others mistakes

Turn your lights on whenever visibility is limited, such as at dusk, while raining, in tunnels, and similar. To avoid being hit, first you must be seen! Older drivers can only see 1/3rd as well as younger ones.

Follow street signs and traffic lights, but use your judgment too. Don't try to beat red lights. And expect others to try to do so, so give them time to go through, particularly trucks that have trouble slowing down. Always stay at a safe distance from other vehicles. A general rule is the farther you are from them, the safer you are.

When you try to run a red light, there are many grave hazards. You take the risk that someone will turn in front of you (thinking that you must be stopping). Or, when the light changes, someone will pull out from the side and into your path. Or, a pedestrian (perhaps a child) will step out into the crosswalk on the far side. You are probably speeding and are committed to running the light, so the accident will be a severe one. The resulting carnage will be your fault, and you will have to live with it for the rest of your life. Keep in mind here that, it is exceptionally difficult for the other driver, when looking at your vehicle head on, whether your are about to accelerate, stop, or even how fast you are going.

Use turn signals to indicate where and when you're going to turn. Other drivers need to know this. This includes lane changes, to warn approaching drivers of your intentions. It's not only safer, but, it's common courtesy. Signal as soon as you decide that you would like to make a turn, then look for a space into which to make the turn, not vice versa. This gives other drivers more time to notice you, and perhaps even open up a space for you

Use the horn only in when necessary to avoid an accident. It is rude, it is upsetting to others (possibly causing road rage), and adds to noise pollution.

Talking on cell phones while driving is seriously detrimental in terms of the effect on your attention to driving. Pull off the road to use cell phones or other distracting devices or items. In some states, such as Oregon, they have outlawed, but not enforced these, no talking on your phone.

Use your mirrors. Good safe driving involves not only a great awareness of what is in front of you, but what is behind you, what is next to you. Every vehicle has blind spots; know what yours are, and make allowances for those of other vehicles.

Caring For Animals

If you are like millions of animal owners nationwide, your pet is an important member of your household. Unfortunately, animals are also affected by disaster.
The likelihood that you and your animals will survive an emergency such as a fire or flood, tornado or terrorist attack depends largely on emergency planning done today. Some of the things you can do to prepare for the unexpected, such as assembling an animal emergency supply kit and developing a pet care buddy system, are the same for any emergency. Whether you decide to stay put in an emergency or evacuate to a safer location, you will need to make plans in advance for your pets. Keep in mind that what's best for you is typically what's best for your animals.
If you evacuate your home, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS BEHIND! Pets most likely cannot survive on their own and if by some remote chance they do, you may not be able to find them when you return.
If you are going to a public shelter, it is important to understand that animals may not be allowed inside. Plan in advance for shelter alternatives that will work for both you and your pets; consider loved ones or friends outside of your immediate area who would be willing to host you and your pets in an emergency.
Make a back-up emergency plan in case you can't care for your animals yourself. Develop a buddy system with neighbors, friends and relatives to make sure that someone is available to care for or evacuate your pets if you are unable to do so. Be prepared to improvise and use what you have on hand to make it on your own for at least three days, maybe longer.

Ways to Reduce Air Pollutio

Ways to Reduce Air Pollution
We make choices everyday that can help reduce air pollution. Below are a few ideas that you can take to help clean our air.

At Home

Conserve energy - turn off appliances and lights when you leave the room.
Recycle paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans. (This conserves energy and reduces production emissions.)
Keep woodstoves and fireplaces well maintained. You should also consider replacing old wood stoves with EPA-certified models
Plant deciduous trees in locations around your home to provide shade in the summer, but to allow light in the winter.
Buy green electricity-produced by low-or even zero-pollution facilities.
Connect your outdoor lights to a timer or use solar lighting.
Wash clothes with warm or cold water instead of hot.
Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120F.
Use low-VOC or water-based paints, stains, finishes, and paint strippers.
Test your home for radon-a dangerous, radioactive gas that is odorless and tasteless. If the test shows elevated levels of radon, the problem can be fixed cost effectively.
Choose not to smoke in your home, especially if you have children. If you or your visitors must smoke, then smoke outside.

Drive Wise

Plan your trips. Save gasoline and reduce air pollution.

Keep tires properly inflated and aligned.
In the summertime, fill gas tank during cooler evening hours to cut down on evaporation. Avoid spilling gas and don't "top off" the tank. Replace gas tank cap tightly.
Avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines, for example, at fast-food restaurants or banks. Park your car and go in.
When possible, use public transportation, walk, or ride a bike

Water Pollution Guide

If you want to help keep our waters clean, there are many things you can do to help. You can prevent water pollution of nearby rivers and lakes as well as groundwater and drinking water by following some simple guidelines in your everyday life.
  • Conserve water by turning off the tap when running water is not necessary. This helps prevent water shortages and reduces the amount of contaminated water that needs treatment.
  • Be careful about what you throw down your sink or toilet. Don’t throw paints, oils or other forms of litter down the drain.
  • Use environmentally household products, such as washing powder, household cleaning agents and toiletries.
  • Take great care not to overuse pesticides and fertilisers. This will prevent runoffs of the material into nearby water sources.
  • By having more plants in your garden you are preventing fertiliser, pesticides and contaminated water from running off into nearby water sources.
  • Don’t throw litter into rivers, lakes or oceans. Help clean up any litter you see on beaches or in rivers and lakes, make sure it is safe to collect the litter and put it in a nearby dustbin.

Meaning of Eid al- Adha

                                                          Meaning of Eid al- Adha

This month was a historic month for Muslims . Because, in this month the Muslims from around the world perform the fifth pillar of Islam . Hajj is a religious ritual which teaches equality among others . With it , Islam appears as a religion that knows no social status . Rich , poor , officials , people , black or white leather were all wearing the same clothes . Jointly undertake the same activities also the rituals of Hajj .
In addition to the Hajj , the Muslims celebrate the month of Eid-ul- Adha . Accompanied by the beat of the drum chanting Takbir echoed add to the splendor of the feast . Takbir sound bersahut-replication invites us to a moment of reflection that nothing grand , nothing worthy of worship except Allah , the Lord of hosts .
On that day , Muslims are encouraged to pray sunnah than two rekaat , is also recommended for those who slaughter the sacrificial animal is capable of. This recommendation stems from the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim to slaughter his beloved son Prophet Ismail ie .
This incident left a deep impression for us . Imagine . Prophet Ibrahim who had to wait for a baby for many years, it was tested God to slaughter his own son . Prophet Ibrahim is required to choose between carrying out God's command or retain baby with the consequences of not heeding His commands . An option that is quite a dilemma . However, due to strong piety based , command executed LORD . And in the end , not so slaughtered the Prophet Ismail with a sheep replaced . Touching legend is immortalized in the Quran surat al Shaffat verses 102-109 .
The story is a portrait of obedience culmination of a servant to his Lord . Abraham loved God above all things , including his own flesh and blood . Love towards his beloved son Prophet Ibrahim did not hinder obedience to God . Model of Prophet Abraham 's devotion we ought to emulate.
From a variety of media , we can see how the culture of corruption is still rampant . In order to accumulate wealth willingly gave up " dress " piety . Ambition to take office has been forced to be willing to break down the " strongholds " of religion . Today, the system has a lot of life in defiance of the divine values . In the spirit of Eid al- Adha , let us look up the figure of the Prophet Ibrahim . Trying to maximize the sense of dutiful and obedient to the teachings of religion .
In addition , there is another lesson to be learned from the story . As we know that the Prophet Ismail 's orders to slaughter the sheep were eventually replaced . Implied message of this scene is the teachings of Islam so appreciate the importance of human life .
This is similar to what Imam Syatibi echoed in his magnum opus magnum Muwafaqot al . According Syatibi , one of the universal values of Islam ( maqoshid al Shariah ) is the right to keep religion alive ( hifdzu al nafs ) . Similarly, in the realm of jurisprudence , religion mensyari'atkan qishosh , ban murder etc. . It reveals that Islam is really protecting the rights of human life .

Prophet Ismail was willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of nothing but obey His commandments . In contrast to the terrorists and suicide bombers . Are the sacrifices they made really fulfill the commandment of God for the glory of Islam or just the opposite ? .
The terrorists and suicide bombers is clearly incompatible with the universal values of Islam . Islam uphold the right to life , while they - the suicide bombing - even harm himself. In addition , they also kill innocent civilians , many innocent victims fall . Worse yet , they are not making authority in the eyes of the Islamic world , but to make Islam as a religion of fear, religion sword and a hotbed of violence . As a result of their reckless action this would make Islam like a " giant " bloodthirsty cannibal humans .
Imam Ghazali in Ihya ' Ulumuddin never describes procedures for doing good and avoiding evil . According to him , the action in the form of the action of destruction , the destruction of immorality is the state authority or state entity acquire legality . Actions taken in the case of hard-line Islam is clearly not procedural . ( vol.2 hlm.311 )
It stands in enjoining the good and forbidding the evil conduct does not lead to greater misguidance . Is not the actions of terrorists and suicide bombers is actually detrimental to Islam itself ? . Damage the image of Islam that teaches peace and should rahmatan lil ' alamin . The teachings of Islam which is humanist , understand and appreciate the diversity of the plurality meaningless .
Hopefully with event execution Amrozi , die anyway Islamic radicalism , Islamic buried too spooky face . Sacrifice of Prophet Ismail was so genuine execute commands clearly different from the sacrifices of the terrorists .
On the day of Eid al- Adha , the Muslims who are able are encouraged to slaughter the sacrificial animal . Basically , this sacrificial slaughter of animals containing two grades namely devotional rituals and social piety . Ritual piety means to sacrifice , we have carried out the Lord's command that is transcendental . Sacrifice regarded as social piety because apart from being a religious ritual , sacrifice also has a humanitarian dimension .
Forms of human solidarity is manifested clearly in the distribution of sacrificial meat . Who is able to command the sacrifice to show that Islam is a religion of respect for the poor and the indigent - dhu'afa other . With disyari'atkannya sacrifice , Muslims are trained to strengthen a sense of humanity , honed sensitivity to social problems , teaches mutual compassion for others .
Although the timing of slaughtering sacrificial limited (10-13 Dhu al-Hijjah ) , but do not understand that Islam limits of human solidarity . We should be able to capture the essential meaning of the message text , not understanding the literal text . Therefore , the spirit to continue to ' sacrifice ' we constantly perpetuate post- Idul Adha .
Nowadays we often come across, many of the Muslims who only compete to improve the quality of ritual piety without balanced with social piety . Many Muslims are just diligent prayer , fasting even afford the pilgrimage many times , but do not bother with the surrounding community . A sad phenomenon . Let us make Eid al -Adha as a momentum to increase as well as the two devotional ritual piety and social piety . Congratulations days and feast !

Biografi Superman Is Dead Band

                                                   Biografi Superman Is Dead Band

SID, punk rock pioneers of Bali, were born and bred in Kuta Rock City. The band is three chord attitude-heavy young men, by name: Bobby Kool, Eka Rock, Jrx.

The name 'Superman is Dead' started its' evolution from Stone Temple Pilot's "Superman Silvergun". The name moved on to "Superman is Dead" cause they like the idea that there's no such thing as a perfect person out there.

SID actually stumbled together in '95, drawn by their common love of Green Day and NOFX. Their influences soon extended to the punk 'n roll genre a la Supersuckers, Living End and Social Distortion, and here they stay. They say what they wanna say, how they wanna say it. In your face, to say it precisely.

SID public image, self described, is "PunkRockaBali" (think raw energy of NOFX vs Social Distortion supersonically fueled with beer-soaked Balinese Rockabilly attitude).

History? SID produced their first three albums independently (the boys worked years of crappy night jobs), with fabulous, small scale independent labels 1997 "Case 15", 1999 "Superman is Dead", 2002 "Bad, Bad, Bad"(mini album, 6 tracks). In March 2003 SID finally signed with Sony-BMG Indonesia after extended negotiations regarding their right to sing the majority of their tracks in English and have full artistic rights over their 'image'!! With that decision they single handedly became the first band from Bali to be invited to sign with a major recording label in Indonesia, the first band in their nation (to my knowledge) to be recording majority of songs in English, AND the first punk band in Indonesia to get the national exposure and promotion that working with a major label in a third world country provides. And so the history of Indonesian Punk Rock begins!

And as for the question that everyone wants to know.the infamous bomb in Bali happened about 75M from their home, hangout center, punk rock boutique, bar and rehearsal studio that is also Jrx's house, in the heart of Kuta. After panel beating back the rolling doors of the studio, and shifting a little debris, rehearsals continued as usual. Yeah, they saw a lot, it sucked big time, but its' not gonna stop 'em!

And where are they now? At the end of 2002, one of the more respectable music mags here cited SID as "The Next Big Thing" for 2003. With the release of their fourth album, "Kuta Rock City", followed by major airplay nationally and in some countries overseas, coupled with the instant popularity of their newest filmclip. SID suddenly find themselves touring continuously throughout Indonesia. Last week they were in four major Indonesian cities, on three islands, in 7 days!

Sometimes playing for free at underground scene clubs, sometimes at street skate parties or alternative band festivals, at lots of universities, and even occasionally at "classy" venues who would have probably denied them entrance years ago! Which means more beers for all.

In 2003 SID even got a mention in Time Asia. They also won a few music awards. MTV Awards for Best New Artist 2003, AMI Awards for The Best New Artist 2003. Nominated again in AMI Awards 2007 for Best Rock Album. October 2007 they did an amazing Australian tour, 8 cities, 16 gigs, 33 days with their strong D.I.Y work ethic.

June – July 2009, Superman Is Dead held An American Tour, 16 Gigs in 16 cities. 11 gigs of them were the ‘Vans Warped Tour’ and the last 5 gigs were ‘From Bali With Rock’. They did a very hard work to succeed this excited tour, had crossed the big land from westcoast to eastcoast and got back to westcoast.

On 18 July 2010 for the first time, Indonesia Cutting Edge Music Awards (ICEMA) was held. ICEMA event award is dedicated to non-mainstream musicians. Since April, the nominees selected by voting which was held in www.icema.co.id. Superman Is Dead to be a musician with the most awards. They managed to won three trophies for the categories of Favorite Punk / Hardcore Song, Favorite Artwork from Album and Favorite Band Duo or Group

On 20 January 2011, Billboard introduced Uncharted, a weekly ranking of emerging artists who have yet to appear on a major Billboard chart but are mapping new territory in online fan engagement. At no 23 Superman is Dead scores their first Billboard chart showing after 15 years together and have amassed over 1.6 million Facebook fans worldwide.

SID had share stages with international bands such as International Noise Conspiracy, NOFX, MXPX, Hoobastank, The Vines and Wolfmother.
They remain proud, boys from the streets of Kuta with a love of punk rock, beers and a good time. Ready for whatever comes next, excited about the next gig.

Bali NOT FOR SALE

Artist and Activist Pande Putu has installed this protest piece in the green rice fields of north Ubud.
He probably speaks for many of the older local farmers, but it just isn’t in Balinese culture to complain, so most wont speak out about the selling off of rice fields for the building of hotels, resorts and private villas all over Bali.
Ironically, the construction happening on this land is to house Tourists who come into these areas to enjoy and look out at rice fields… now they just face more construction sites… their presence destroying the very thing they came here for.
For the farmers, they face difficult economic decisions. Should they keep their land for future generations and the preservation of Bali culture or take what seems to be a huge amount of money which could benefit their families now, school, car, costs of overdue cremation ceremonies…?
As an expat here in Bali I am constantly aware of the impact myself and others like me are having on the place I have grown to call home. This is an interesting dichotomy for all expats. While we are looked at as being the privileged  rich with money to spend here, and why wouldn’t they want some of our free flowing cash, we know that our being here puts the culture we are enjoying into unbalance.  We demand the kind of services we feel we need – intentionally forcing change on a culture that, on the other hand, we wish to conserve.
We need to think twice before buying land in poorer foreign country for a luxury 2nd home in a place where our neighbours will still be plowing the land by hand and living off less than $2 a day.   As for Pande Putu, well done for speaking out.
